What is Fenobucarb 50% EC?

Fenobucarb 50% EC  also known as BPMC (2-sec-butylphenyl methylcarbamate) is a selective carbamate insecticide that works through contact and stomach action to control brown planthopper, green leafhopper, and other sucking pests in paddy, cotton, and vegetable crops.

Krishikranti Feno-50 is the trusted choice for paddy farmers across India dealing with brown planthopper (BPH) and green leafhopper (GLH)  two of the most damaging pests in rice cultivation that cause hopperburn and yield loss if not controlled at the right time.

Unlike broad-spectrum insecticides, Fenobucarb 50% EC has selective action  it controls target pests without harming beneficial insects like spiders, wasps, and bees. It also has no cross-resistance with neonicotinoids  making it a critical tool for resistance management in paddy hoppers.

How Fenobucarb 50% EC Works

Fenobucarb belongs to the carbamate class of insecticides. It controls pests by inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme  the same enzyme that regulates nerve signal transmission in insects.

Dual Mode of Action

Fenobucarb has a fast knockdown effect with moderately long residual action of 10–15 days in paddy. It is non-phytotoxic to rice and safe for use at all crop growth stages without risk of crop damage.

Key Benefits of Feno-50 Fenobucarb 50% EC

• #1 solution for BPH control in paddy: Fenobucarb BPMC is the most trusted molecule for brown planthopper control in rice across Asia
• Fast knockdown:  contact action kills active hoppers within hours of spraying
• Selective action:  controls target pests without harming spiders, wasps, and other beneficial insects in paddy fields
• Safe for bees and pollinators:  unlike broad-spectrum insecticides, Fenobucarb does not harm pollinator populations
• No cross-resistance with neonicotinoids: critical for resistance management where neonicotinoid resistance is detected in BPH populations
• Non-phytotoxic to rice:  safe at all crop growth stages without any risk of crop damage
• IPM compatible  works alongside biological controls and can be tank-mixed with most insecticides and fungicides
• Cost-effective low dose  300–400 ml per acre keeps input cost per spray low

Frequently Asked Questions : Fenobucarb 50% EC

Q1: What is Fenobucarb 50% EC used for?

Fenobucarb 50% EC is primarily used for brown planthopper (BPH) and green leafhopper control in paddy and rice. It also controls aphids, thrips, and jassids in cotton and vegetables through contact and stomach action.

Q2: What is the dose of Fenobucarb 50% EC per litre?

The recommended dose is 1.5 to 2 ml per litre of water. Per acre, use 300 to 400 ml in 200 litres of water. For a 15-litre knapsack pump, use 30 ml per pump.

Q3: What is the price of Feno-50 Fenobucarb 50% EC?

Krishikranti Feno-50 Fenobucarb 50% EC is available online at Krishibhandar.com with free delivery across India. Check the product page for current price and available pack sizes.

Q4: Is Fenobucarb effective for brown planthopper (BPH) control in paddy?

Yes. Fenobucarb BPMC is the most proven carbamate insecticide for BPH control in rice. Spray 2 ml per litre directly at the base of paddy plants where BPH colonies are concentrated. Apply at the first sign of hopper infestation to prevent hopperburn.

Q5: What is the difference between Fenobucarb and neonicotinoid insecticides for BPH?

Fenobucarb is a carbamate insecticide with no cross-resistance with neonicotinoids. Where BPH populations have developed resistance to neonicotinoids, Fenobucarb remains fully effective. It is a critical resistance management tool for paddy farmers.

Q6: How fast does Fenobucarb 50% EC work?

Contact action begins within hours of spraying. Visible hopper knockdown is seen within 4 to 6 hours of application. Residual protection lasts 10 to 15 days in paddy fields.

Q7: Is Fenobucarb 50% EC safe for beneficial insects?

Yes. Fenobucarb has selective action and does not harm spiders, wasps, and other beneficial predatory insects in paddy fields. It is also safe for bees and pollinators  unlike many broad-spectrum insecticides.

Q8: What is the pre-harvest interval for Fenobucarb 50% EC?

The pre-harvest interval is 10 to 15 days for paddy and rice and 7 to 10 days for vegetables. Do not spray within this period before harvesting the crop.
