2,4-D Dimethyl Amine Salt mimics the natural plant hormone auxin, triggering uncontrolled cell growth in broadleaf weeds. The plant exhausts its energy reserves and dies within 10–14 days. Cereals tolerate it because they metabolize the molecule before damage occurs. Leaf absorption begins within 4–6 hours; visible symptoms appear in 3–7 days.

The recommended dosage is 400–500 ml per acre (1.0–1.25 L per hectare) in 200 liters of water for wheat, paddy, and maize. For sugarcane use 600–800 ml per acre, and for non-cropped areas 800–1000 ml per acre.
