Product Description
What is Blast Disease in Paddy?
Blast is the most dangerous fungal disease in rice. It is caused by a fungus called Magnaporthe oryzae. It can destroy a paddy crop in 7–10 days if not stopped in time. Blast attacks paddy in 3 stages and each stage can wipe out the yield.
Leaf Blast
Small spindle-shaped spots on leaves. Spots are grey in the centre and brown at the edges. As disease grows, full leaves dry up. This stage starts in the nursery or at tillering.
Node Blast (Stem Blast)
Black-brown rings come on the joints (nodes) of the paddy plant. The plant becomes weak and breaks easily. This stage usually comes after tillering.
Neck Blast (The Yield Killer)
This is the most dangerous stage. A black band forms at the neck where the panicle (ear-head) connects to the stem. The panicle dries up. Grains do not fill. Whole panicles become empty. This is the stage where farmers lose 50 to 80 percent of their yield.
How Tricyclazole 75% WP Stops Blast
Tricyclazole works in a smart way. The blast fungus needs a hard black coating (called melanin) to enter the rice plant. Tricyclazole stops the fungus from making this melanin. Without melanin, the fungus cannot punch into the plant. It stays outside the leaf and dies.
Other key actions:
- Systemic: The medicine moves inside the plant protects new leaves and panicles too
- Rainfast: Once absorbed in 1 to 2 hours, rain cannot wash it off
- Long-lasting: One spray protects the crop for 10 to 14 days
- Preventive + Curative: Stops new infection and slows down existing disease
- No resistance issues: Even after years of use, blast fungus has not become resistant

| Node Blast (Stem Blast) | 120–160 g per acre (0.6–0.8 g per litre water) |
Active tillering stage | |
| Neck Blast / Panicle Blast | 160–240 g per acre (0.8–1.0 g per litre water) |
Booting stage before panicle emergence |
How to Spray Step by Step
- Step 1: Take 120 to 160 grams of Bhoogol Tricyclazole 75% WP for one acre
- Step 2: Mix it first in a small amount of water. Stir well to make a smooth paste
- Step 3: Pour this paste into the main spray tank with 200 to 250 litres of water
- Step 4: Stir well so the powder mixes fully
- Step 5: Spray on full plant leaves, stems, and panicles. Cover both upper and lower side of leaves
- Step 6: Spray in early morning or late evening. Avoid hot afternoon sun
- Step 7: Repeat after 10 to 14 days if blast pressure is high
When to Spray : Timing is Everything
Timing matters more than dose for blast control. Here is the spray calendar for paddy:
- 1st Spray (Preventive): At tillering stage when first leaf blast spots appear OR when weather is humid and cloudy
- 2nd Spray (Most Important): At booting stage just before panicle comes out. This stops neck blast
- 3rd Spray (If Needed): At 5% panicle emergence in disease-prone areas
Where Blast Spreads Fast
Watch out for blast in these conditions:
- Humid weather above 80% humidity for several days
- Cloudy days with light drizzle
- Cool night temperature (20–25°C) followed by warm days
- Heavy nitrogen (urea) use too much urea makes plants soft and disease-prone
- Late-planted paddy crops
- Fields where blast came last year (the fungus stays in soil and stubble)
- Sensitive paddy varieties (basmati and many traditional varieties)
Mixing & Compatibility
- Compatible with most insecticides and fertilizers
- Can be tank-mixed with insecticides used for stem borer or leaf folder
- Do not mix with strong alkaline products (lime, bordeaux mixture)
- Always do a small test mix before adding to main tank
- Use clean water — muddy water reduces effect
