Why fenvalerate works when others fail: Many pests have developed resistance to organophosphate and carbamate insecticides. Yes. Fenvalerate 20% EC gives excellent control of brinjal shoot and fruit borer. Spray 2.5 to 3 ml per litre when first bore holes appear on shoots or fruits. Repeat every 10 to 15 days during peak fruiting season. Contact action kills borers before they enter the fruit.
Both are synthetic pyrethroids with contact and stomach action. Fenvalerate is more photostable and gives longer residual activity (10 to 15 days vs 7 to 10 days for cypermethrin). Fenvalerate also has stronger repellent effect against pests. Cypermethrin has slightly faster initial knockdown. Both work against similar pests.
PHI is 7 to 14 days depending on the crop. For vegetables like brinjal, okra, and cauliflower maintain a minimum 7 days gap between last spray and harvest. For cotton there is no PHI concern as the fibre is not consumed as food.
Yes. Fenvalerate can be tank-mixed with most organophosphate insecticides like chlorpyriphos, profenofos, and acephate for enhanced broad-spectrum control. Do not mix with alkaline pesticides or Bordeaux mixture. Always do a jar test before tank-mixing new combinations.
